PANORAMA & TINY PLANETS

Ghost likes to take panoramic photos, but is certainly also a fan of Tiny Planets. Tiny Planets are a kind of panoramic photos, in which a complete landscape or cityscape is transformed (usually with special software or a Photoshop plugin) into an intriguing mini-world, that looks like a small planet.

This Tiny Planet shows The Grote Markt, the central square of Antwerp, Belgium, situated in the heart of the old city quarter. It is surrounded by the city's Renaissance Town Hall, as well as numerous guildhalls with elaborate façades. The square also has many restaurants and cafes, and it lies within walking distance of the Scheldt river and the cathedral. The original photo was taken in 2017 during the now sadly defunct annual culture market on the last weekend of August.

This Tiny Planet is a view of the Cadixstraat in Antwerp (at the time of the original photo, street works were in progress and the street was broken up) where Ghost completed part of his photography training in 2016 and 2017. Most of the studio photos you see in this portfolio were taken here in the school's photo studio.

This Tiny Planet is a view of the Schengenplein, a new square in the so called Cadix district of Antwerp, that officially opened in June 2017. The green square is located on the former car park of the former customs building, is completely car-free, and also contains various play areas for children and rest areas. It crosses the Kattendijkdok-Oostkaai, where a tram also runs, so that you can reach the square from the center of the city in just ten minutes.

A panoramic photo of the Cadixstraat in Antwerp with on the right the (unused) back entrance of the school where Ghost did part of his photography training. At the time of this photo, street works were in progress, so the street is broken up. Nice detail are also the two electricity boxes at the bottom left and right. The photos on it are from students of the photography class at the time, a request from the City of Antwerp to brighten up those electricity boxes.

A panoramic photo of Deurne airport, actually Antwerp airport. Ghost was invited to brunch at the airport cafeteria and took the opportunity to take this photo through the window. It's a Saturday morning, and at the weekend there's virtually no activity at this small airport, which is why the tarmac is so quiet and deserted.

A panoramic photo of the tram terminus on the left bank of Antwerp as it looked in 2015. Today this place looks quite different because they moved the tram terminus a few hundred meters away. Trams still stop at this place, but the turning loop has disappeared and the tracks have been laid out differently.
